• Massage

Massage is more than just a reward at the end of a workout or to help recover from injury. It is a vital tool for keeping athletes and active people in their top performance shape so that they can continue to enjoy the activities that they love most. It's helpful for anyone who routinely stretches their physical limits through movement. Swimmers, surfers, weight lifers, runners, golfers, ball players, skaters, dancers, musicians, and gardeners as well as "weekend warriors" benefit from massage.

A therapeutic massage can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture and reduce blood pressure. Massage is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, and reduce anxiety.

I have developed a technique that is a blend of my Shiatsu, Swedish, Deep Tissue and Remedial Massage / Sports Massage Therapy training. My clients range from athletes to new mothers, from students to seniors. By working with each individual on key points of stress I can relax muscle tension that will help re-balance the body to speed the recovery process. I offer a full body therapeutic massage that is thoroughly relaxing, restorative and rejuvenating.

  • Bio

My career in bodywork began at the Shiatsu Institute of San Francisco over 12 years ago. The program at the Shiatsu Institute was an in depth study of the body’s energy and movement. Shiatsu is a therapy based on the body’s energy meridians, a concept central to traditional Chinese medicine and used in acupressure and reflexology. After my training at the Shiatsu Institute I went onto complete a program at the Integrative Healing Arts Academy with a focus on anatomy and physiology. I truly enjoy studying the body and continue to educate myself with research in kinesiology, nutrition, and health.

Most recently, January 2010, I completed an anatomy course at Midline Massage, a local Santa Cruz school of massage. This course, specifically designed for massage and bodywork professionals, focused on the relationships of anatomy. For example; how the thoracic spine relates to the ribcage (an area of pain for many of my clients).

My background also includes advanced training in yoga, tai chi, qigong, Pilates and Gyrokinesis. With the upmost appreciation for the body and movement I incorporate these techniques into my massage practice. Through my personal experience as a dancer and athlete I have learned first hand the healing that can be obtained through massage. Whether you are recovering from an injury, have chronic pain or stress, I can help your body accelerate the healing process through massage.
